Beaver Pond Levelers Project Complete October 3, 2025

Rolling Hills CSD is pleased to announce the successful installation of two Beaver Pond Levelers—one near Prima Drive and another along Stonebriar Drive by the EID Lift Station. Personnel from Occidental Arts and Ecology Center (OAEC), Connected Ecology, and the Beaver Institute, constructed, and successfully installed the devices in both ponds. The project was completed on October 3, 2025.
These devices help manage pond water levels created by local beaver activity. By working like a“tub overflow drain,” they allow water to flow out once it reaches a set height—preventing overflow while maintaining healthy wetland habitat for the beavers. This approach supports coexistence with wildlife and protects nearby infrastructure from flooding. The project was primarily funded through a California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) grant, with a minimal cost of $300 to the District. Signage explaining the project will soon be installed near the Stonebriar pond.
Thank you, RHCSD General Manager Mark Magee and Board of Directors
